One Young City Looks For One Young Leader

The City of Johannesburg is proud to be hosting the One Young World Summit 2013, which gives brilliant young minds a voice and allows them to share insights and wisdom on global challenges.

The energy of the youth runs through the veins of the young, vibrant city of Johannesburg, and it is this very same youthful energy that drives and makes the summit such a success. With 42% of the population under the age of 24 and 49% under the age of 34, Johannesburg is home to a vibrant, energetic community that makes it ideal for the One Young World Summit. The summit will bring together 1500 exceptional young people from around the world. As the host city for this year’s summit, the City of Johannesburg is looking to sponsor 20 young, dynamic leaders dedicated to change.

“The City of Johannesburg is proud to be associated with a dynamic global organisation such as One Young World which has become a tremendous force for good and a great catalyst to communicate the aspirations of the younger generation to international leaders. As a dynamic and forward-looking City, Johannesburg supports these initiatives and we are confident that the 2013 One Young World Summit will have a lasting impact on critical choices that need to be made to ensure a safe and prosperous future for the next generations. The event gives the leaders of tomorrow a voice today,” says Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, Clr Parks Tau.

If you are an individual residing in Johannesburg, between the ages of 18 and 30 who has demonstrated leadership potential and harnesses the youthful energy needed to create change, the City of Johannesburg is looking for you. Previous delegates have already had an impact in their communities on a range of issues, including the role of business in society, transparency in business and government, the impact of climate change, global health and hunger relief.

  • Teamwork
  • Leadership potential and skills
  • Concerns about global issues
