Described as the music festival for food lovers or a food festival for music lovers, the Delicious Festival has drawn interest from both Cape Town and New Zealand to stage the festival there.

Organisers are already planning to make it a biannual Summer and Winter festival that will take place back to back in Johannesburg and Cape Town in 2014.

A massive success, Delicious lived up to its billing as a flavour-and-entertainment-filled world class event under clear blue skies at the picturesque Blue Hills Equestrian Estate this past weekend.

An estimated 15 000 festival goers attended the weekend long festival, with fans spotting celebrities such as Randal Abrahams, Darren Simpson and movie star of the moment Idris Elba who plays Mandela in the soon to be release biopic of Mandela’s life. Festival goers sampled delights from 90 artisan traders while a further 1 800 lucky dinners got to experience the international restaurants run by celebrity chefs Aldo Zilli, John Burton Race and Ed Baines.

Commenting on the weekend Zilli said: "We had another wonderful visit to South Africa and always love cooking for the SA public. We were honoured to be a part of the first Delicious Festival and hope to come back for more!"

Added festival promoter Lloyd Cornwall of VWV Massive, “We are really pleased with the way the festival ran this weekend. Whilst there were the inevitable teething problems on a first time event like this, the feedback we got was really positive - from the musicians, the international chefs and the paying public. We are looking forward to the next Delicious Festival in 2014.”

Fans had the chance to explore the Checkers Food Experience, watch the DStv Celebrity Chef cook-offs and try the Ocean Basket Sushi Bar under the guidance of celebrity chef Pepi Anevski. Younger guests were enthralled and entertained in the DStv Kids Zone with Converse Kids and Mille Kids.

The Castle Milk Stout lounge belted out the tunes from a variety of top SA artists that performed unplugged sets while the main stages rocked to the sounds of Jamiroquai, Mi Casa, Khuli Chana, Prime Circle, Danny K, BlackByrd and Household Funk.

Delicious proved to be a winning combination of food and music; the media contingent of over 400 can attest to this.
