The Businesswomen’s Association of South Africa (BWASA) announced that nominations for their annual Businesswoman of the Year Awards (BWOYA) will be closing on Monday, 11th May 2015 at 12h00. BWOYA, now in its 36th year, awards the excellence of women leaders across South Africa in 3 categories, Corporate, Entrepreneur and Government. The awards continue to break new ground by providing an exclusive platform for women to showcase their skills and expertise. This year’s headline sponsor is international chemical and energy giant, Sasol.
“It is our hope at BWASA that through these awards the efforts of women in business will not only gain recognition and prominence, but that the importance of gender transformation in business will continue to be a foremost topic and agenda for South Africa. Ours is the very important socio-economic role of identifying, acknowledging and cultivating women entrepreneurs, corporate and professionals and women in government in various regions,” says Farzanah Mall, president of BWASA.
The call for nominations opened on 30 November 2014 and to date we have received over 100 nominations of exemplary businesswomen in their fields. BWASA invites the public, who need not be members of BWASA, to submit nominees for the Businesswoman of the Year Award with only the following criteria:

“We look forward to receiving nominees’ from all different sectors to continue profiling women of a high calibre and to demonstrate how critical women are to the economy,” says Mall.
The award ceremony to honour 2015 winners will be held on 3rd September at the Sandton Convention Centre. This year’s awards are appropriately themed “Recognising exceptional women leaders of influence and wisdom”, celebrates women leaders embodying the characteristics of the phoenix – women who are bold, brave, wise, influential and passionate, who have risen to success.
